Supporting Local Business, Workforce Connections & Future Planning
September brought new opportunities for local businesses, cold brews, community partnerships, and long-term planning efforts focused on Downtown Cadillac’s future.
Buy Local, Spend Local Partnership
Forest Area Federal Credit Union recently joined the Downtown Cadillac Small Business Round-Up to introduce its Buy Local, Spend Local program.
The free program connects shoppers with participating local businesses while rewarding customers for supporting local commerce. Businesses gain additional exposure through promotional campaigns, newsletters, social media, and member communications while encouraging repeat visits from local shoppers.
Volunteer for Craft Beer & Downtown Trick-or-Treat Returns October 29
The 15th annual Cadillac Craft Beer Festival was a hit and we enjoyed helping out while hundreds of festival-goers filled the Commons area, enjoying live music, yard games and unique eats!
Families are invited back to Downtown Cadillac for Trick-or-Treating on October 29 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Businesses throughout the Mitchell Street Market district will once again welcome young trick-or-treaters for an afternoon of community fun ahead of the area’s traditional Halloween activities on October 31.
Connecting Businesses with Future Talent
Representatives from the Wexford-Missaukee Career Technical Center met with downtown businesses to discuss internship, job shadow, and workforce development opportunities.
CTC programs provide businesses access to motivated students while giving students valuable real-world experience. Downtown employers interested in hosting interns, participating on advisory boards, or connecting with students are encouraged to explore partnership opportunities through the CTC.
Small Business Round-Up Continues
The next Small Business Round-Up will take place October 2 at Chunky Bear Coffee Roasters.
The agenda includes DDA and Main Street updates, community development news, and a discussion focused on discovering and defining Downtown Cadillac’s brand identity.
Exploring a Downtown City Dock Concept
A preliminary proposal is exploring the possibility of creating a city dock and floating public plaza that would better connect Downtown Cadillac with the lakefront.
The concept envisions a space where residents and visitors can gather, relax, and connect directly between downtown businesses and waterfront recreation. The proposal aims to strengthen Cadillac’s identity while supporting tourism and local economic activity.
Share Your Thoughts on Downtown Street Safety
Community feedback continues to be gathered through a Downtown Street Safety Survey.
The DDA’s long-term vision includes a vibrant, walkable downtown that balances safety, accessibility, historic character, and economic vitality. Public input will help guide future planning efforts and identify priorities for improving the downtown experience for residents, businesses, and visitors alike.
