Honoring Heroes, Public Art, Fresh Markets & Summer Momentum
As summer approaches, Downtown Cadillac is focused on public art, community partnerships, and signature events that continue to bring energy and activity to the district.
Gratitude and Recognition for our Military
Downtown Cadillac is proud to introduce the Downtown Cadillac Hometown Heroes Banner Program, a meaningful community initiative that celebrates the service and sacrifice of military personnel connected to Wexford and Missaukee Counties.
Community Mural Project Takes Root
The Downtown Cadillac Community Mural project is now underway, giving residents and supporters an opportunity to leave a lasting mark on downtown while helping fund future public art initiatives.
The Unity Tree mosaic mural will be created from individual hand-painted tiles, with proceeds supporting additional mural projects throughout Downtown Cadillac. Community painting sessions and sponsorship opportunities are also being offered as part of the initiative.
Farmers Market Season Begins
The Downtown Cadillac Farmers Market officially opened for the season on May 1, launching a renewed partnership with SEEDS Ecology & Education Centers.
Operating Fridays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the market focuses on fresh food, local vendors, and community connections. Through the partnership, SEEDS is helping expand access to healthy food while strengthening the market’s role as a gathering place for residents and visitors alike.
Learning from Main Street Peers
Downtown Cadillac leadership recently visited Downtown Gaylord as part of the Michigan Main Street network.
The visit highlighted opportunities for collaboration between communities facing similar challenges and showcased how public art and creative placemaking can enhance downtown experiences. The trip provided inspiration for future arts-focused initiatives in Cadillac.
Small Business Round-Up Returns
The monthly Small Business Round-Up resumed in May, bringing together business owners, community partners, and downtown stakeholders.
Topics included preparations for Back to the Bricks, updates on local arts programming, downtown improvement projects, and networking opportunities designed to strengthen the business community.
Back to the Bricks Returns to Downtown Cadillac
One of downtown’s signature summer events is making its return as the Gas, Gears & Good Times Promo Tour rolls back into Cadillac on June 7.
Following a successful stop in 2024, the event is expected to once again draw thousands of visitors, filling Mitchell Street with classic vehicles, family activities, and a vibrant downtown atmosphere.
