Downtown Cadillac Pursues Michigan Main Street Select Status
Representatives from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and Michigan Main Street recently visited Downtown Cadillac as part of the DDA’s ongoing participation in the Michigan Main Street Program.
The visit focused on Cadillac’s application to advance from the program’s “Engaged” level to “Select” status. Achieving Select status would provide access to expanded technical assistance, funding opportunities, and strategic resources designed to support downtown revitalization efforts.
During their visit, state representatives toured downtown, met with business owners and community partners, and reviewed recent and ongoing development projects throughout the district.

Public Art Fundraiser Planned for 2026
The Cadillac Area Young Professionals and Downtown Cadillac are planning a Pint Night for Public Art event in early 2026.
The fundraiser will support future public art initiatives while giving attendees an opportunity to preview Downtown Cadillac’s new branding, enjoy special merchandise, raffles, and connect with others who support downtown placemaking efforts.
Grant Opportunity for Small Businesses
Eligible small businesses can now apply for the American Express Shop Small Grants Program.
The initiative, launched in partnership with Main Street America, will award 250 grants of $20,000 to small businesses across the country. Applications remain open through January 16, 2026.
Supporting Local Businesses
November’s Small Business Round-Up connected downtown businesses with resources from the Michigan Retailers Association, Michigan Main Street, and other economic development partners.
Topics included merchant processing solutions, digital marketing, storytelling, and strategies for strengthening local businesses. The session also highlighted the impact of supporting Michigan-based businesses, with studies showing that even modest shifts in local spending can create jobs and generate significant economic activity statewide.
