Downtown Cadillac Update: Flowers, Murals, and Small Business Connections
Downtown Cadillac continues to see positive momentum through beautification efforts, public art projects, business collaboration, and community events.
The Power of Flowers
The Downtown Development Authority partners with Hope Network to water and maintain downtown’s hanging flower baskets. This year, Cadillac residents contributed more than $7,000 to support downtown flowers and beautification efforts.
City of Cadillac Parks and Recreation staff have also been busy improving public spaces by planting flowers, replacing bench planks, trimming shrubs, removing weeds, and refreshing landscaping in Downtown Cadillac’s pocket park.
Where Creativity Meets Community
Public art continues to shape the character of Downtown Cadillac.
Artist Gabby Hanson recently completed a mural on the Cadillac Printing Company building featuring handprints from Cadillac residents. The project was supported by the Michigan Arts and Culture Council, Michigan ArtShare, Up North Arts, the Cadillac Community Foundation, and the Cadillac Area Visitors Bureau.
The DDA’s Arts and Beautification Committee is currently looking for ideas and locations for future public art projects throughout downtown.
Small Business Round-Up Recap
Downtown businesses recently gathered for a Small Business Round-Up focused on storefront improvements, collaboration opportunities, and upcoming events.
Updates included planning for the Mitchell Street Market Summer Block Party, participation opportunities connected to KISS50 and Cadillac Craft Beer Festival events, and an invitation for businesses to take part in the inaugural Hay Days celebration on October 4.
Summer Block Party Entertainment Announced
